Fixout Stage

Well the house survived the floods - we had a lot of water on the property, but this was from the rain rather than the river.  Its good to know that we will be OK if the bremer floods again.
We are now 2 - 3 weeks away from moving in.  We can hardly believe it!! We are out there this weekend to do the prepping on the walls so we can then paint them.  Got no idea what colours yet... maybe we will be inspired...

This is oliver's room - the bench seat that we will use to hide all his toys.  The floor has been done but the skirting and architraves are yet to be finished.

This is the loft - louvres out for painting and skirting and architraves done.

The Granny flat is the most complete at the moment - skirting and architraves are done and now just waiting for the walls to get the decor coat.

View from Ollie's room looking back on the breezeway.

We were out at the house on Australia day painting some of the louvres, it was pretty hot but I thought the house fared pretty well - although it was sticky work I did feel that the heat was not oppressive.  The Granny flat breezeway with both sides having earth walls helped cool that area down.  I think we are both hoping that we will not need to get air conditioning.
Handover date is the 7th of Feb - and we are quietly confident.  We spoke to Paul the builder and told him that we were prepared to let the date slide if it meant finishing it completely.  We have had some issues sourcing dry clay for the external render, but we think we now have enough on site to get this completed. I think we would all be happier if the house was done and dusted without Paul having to come back.  We are sick of the place being a building site and he is sick of staying in the caravan so its nice that we are all heading in the right direction.
Plumber on site next Monday with the Tank man to clean the tank and connect the sewerage / water - then its just the electrician to finish off and we are done!
Can hardly believe it...
